Hello, Goodbye!

Hi there, it's been awhile hasn't it? I have been busy pondering over my blog, and I believe after much contemplation, the time has come for me to step away and say goodbye! I started this blog in March 2008 to share my love of sewing and crafting. It has pushed me to create almost daily and challenged me to finish long forgotten projects.

I have had a wonderful time sharing my experiences with you and enjoyed all the comments and encouragement you have sent my way! I am so proud of myself to see that I had 241 posts of things to share. That may not seem like alot to some, but for me that is a great accomplishment.

So, what am I going to do now? Does that mean that I can't be creative anyomore? Absolutely not, I am going to enjoy my family, color in coloring books, draw, be silly, be sad, read, climb a mountain (okay not really), bake delicious cakes, cry if I want to, take naps, play my cello, smell the flowers and do every and anything I want to do...you know, Live Life!

But, I won't be gone completely! You can still visit me on my photo blog, and from time to time you may see some of my craftiness...and also on flickr where I will continue my Tinted Linen Group, and my photo account.

I just want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has stopped by throughout the years. It gives me warm fuzzies to know that there are so many wonderfully creative and crafty people all over the world!

Only Two Resolutions

I have learned time and time again, that I absolutely cannot make New Year's resolutions. I fail every year, and in the end I feel like a complete loser! Mostly, it's because I set unrealistic goals or have so many that the list is too long and overwhelming.

So, this year I have decided to only make two resolutions, that way I can only fail at two instead of ten...right?

Resolution #1: My daily photo journal/blog at Where Shall I Begin? This will be a place where I can share what I see through my eyes, and practice my skills.

Resolution #2: Daily entry in my Memory Book. Now, let me say that I have tried all my life to have a journal. I start, stop, rip out, and give up, but I found hope! I found this journal online and thought that it was a brilliant idea, and it just had to work. It's one line a day: A five year memory book. On each page is the day with four more entries for each year. Over five years you can look back at that day and see what was going on in your life. I can do one line a day...anyone can!

I bought a 3-pack of red Moleskine notebooks to create my own, and added  a few more lines per entry. One line might not be enough but nine may be just right. This will really help me focus on what important things I want to say.

Can I do it? I don't know, but I am going to try my darnedest...and probably fail every now and again!

The Cookie Club

Happy New Year Everyone!

I'm a little late in posting this gift idea, but better late than never (plus Dad reads my blog and it would have spoiled his Christmas surprise.) It's so versatile that you can use it for any type of celebration.

My Dad can be difficult to shop for. For some reason, he likes to buy himself things right before his birthday or Christmas, leaving his kids with no hope of finding a gift. But, there is one thing I know that is fool-proof...Cookies! Dad loves cookies...and really, who doesn't? How about receiving tasty cookies every month?

There are many Cookie of the Month Clubs out there that you can buy, but they can be a little pricey! So, I decided to create my own Cookie of the Month Club. I did a little digging around on Tasty Kitchen and compiled a list for the year. Some of the recipes I chose were to compliment any holiday/celebration or season that might fall in that particular month.

Every month I will deliver freshly baked cookies to my Dad's table complete with the recipe card (just in case he really likes them and wants to make them.) I found this great tutorial on how to make an envelope accordion organizer, that perfectly fits my cards. I labeled each envelope slot with a numbered tab, one for each month in the year.

I found this plain white tin and these great ric-rac stickers at Michael's, and decorated the outside.

To start the year off sweet, I filled the tin with some rich Chocolate Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies and Orange Coconut Balls. I made a few extra on the side for the kids and Honey to enjoy as well. It was difficult trying to keep them away!
